Long Travel, Low Center of Gravity & Legal

 

Not often do these words go together when we think about our Jeeps and what we want out of them wheel travel wise.

Traditionally to get maximum wheel travel we raise the vehicle right up. 3, 4 and even 6" of lift are pretty common for the bigger TJ Wrangler Lifts but with that comes a headache or should I say back ache. Bad bump steer, Driveline Vibrations and a Harsh Ride are all common side effects of the highly lifted Wranglers. The coils I have seen and driven on over the past 10 years on the bigger TJ's have just been too stiff, far too stiff. They give an already bumpy Short Wheel Base Vehicle an even bumpier ride to the point of being uncomfortable.

 

With the reality of a National Code of Practice blanket ban, er, Law being imposed on us soon, I think its time we look for ways to get around the poly's and play on their terms.

 

The 2" CRDSTU 'LLL'  TJ Coils are exactly that. They provide 2" of lift with a nice soft comfortable spring that has enough free height to be compatible with just about any Long Arm Kit on the market (should you have one fitted ;) ) Of course it works perfectly with the stock arms on the TJ's as well. The ride is sublime as the control arms and factory steering geometry is retained and the system can run between 5.5-6 degrees of caster. You can run shocks up to 720mm extended and approx 400 compressed. You'll need bump stop extensions and if you dont have some already we can supply them as well.

 

To get the most out of the wheel travel our company test vehicle is about to have the AEV Highline Kit fitted to raise up the wheel arches by 3". This allows the use of a 35 or even a 37" Tire with minimal rubbing (35's dont rub if setup correctly. The AEV Highline Kit is not only looks brilliant but allows the use of the much larger rubber. This combo is an absolute killer offroad and looks sensational on road.  So if you're thinking about doing it right, having something unbelievably functional that rides well and looks the part, save up for the combo, you wont regret it.
